Music education is changing—and I believe that's one of the greatest opportunities our profession has ever had.

I'm Christian Robinson, a middle and upper school band teacher, professional musician, speaker, and consultant dedicated to helping schools build music programs that are relevant, engaging, and built for today's students. Throughout my career, I've taught everything from beginning band to advanced jazz ensembles, rock bands, and contemporary music courses while performing professionally with artists across the United States.

I've seen firsthand how student interests evolve—and how music programs must evolve alongside them. By combining strong musical foundations with contemporary repertoire, technology, creativity, and student-centered learning, I've worked to create programs that inspire participation, foster artistic excellence, and connect with a new generation of musicians.

Today, I share those ideas through consulting, speaking engagements, professional development, articles, and practical resources for educators who want to strengthen and modernize their programs. Whether it's designing contemporary curriculum, launching a rock band program, integrating AI into music education, or rethinking student engagement, my goal is to provide practical ideas that create lasting impact.

The Modern Music Educator exists to help schools embrace innovation while honoring tradition—creating meaningful musical experiences that prepare students not only to perform, but to create, collaborate, and thrive.
